MFTWSC100 Hot Chocolate please :-)

 

I had a bit of free time on Friday so I decided I needed to play along with this week's MFT Sketch challenge.  I was thinking making a card might help get rid of my 4 day headache (now on Day 5) but it didn't but at least it helped me get a card made. LOL!!. Sadly, this cutie pie a la Mode called "Hot Cocoa" has sat un-inked since last year when it was released... But it's finally gotten dirty... I've been trying to use up some of my DP so I pulled out a pad from Pebbles that I've barely used.  I swear I have an addiction to DP and it's only getting worse.  Eeks!!! The image has been stamped in Versafine Onyx Black, embossed with clear embossing powder and then watercolored with Tombow Markers.

MFTWSC81 Let's get Wild

Eeks!!! Isn't she too cute?? I was away at a crafty get away with a few girlfriends recently and one of the girls had this fantastic MFT a la Mode girl called "On Safari" so of course I had to ink it up and watercolor it up.  I had a bit of free time today (aka I'm procrastinating... who wants to do laundry anyway right???) so when I saw this week's MFT sketch challenge, I knew I had to whip up a card.

MFTWSC49 Winter Wishes

Hey there!!! This little chicky had a bit of time on Wednesday morning to get my craft on so I just had to play with this week's MFT sketch challenge.  Loving it!!! I've had this cutie pie Holiday Hugs Snowman for a few weeks but no time to ink him up.  Yikes!! The horrors of un-inked stampy goodness. If you only knew how many stamps I have that have never seen ink you'd be horrified too!! LOL....

But you didn't come to hear me complain about un-inked stamps so let's get to my card.  Here are the deets....  I've stamped the image in Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  This just makes watercoloring so much easier as you're creating a bit of a dam that the colour is hard to pass through.  The image was then watercolored with my Tombow Markers and a white gel pen was used in a few places to add some highlights.  The DP is from this year's My Mind's Eye 12 Days of Christmas (I am loving the colors!!! I'm definitely a non-traditional Christmas girl). The DP works perfectly for this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger challenge that I just had to play along in.  Rather than using the three small circles at the top of the sketch, I decided to add a rhinestone swirl.  I'm such  a rebel!!! LOL!!! And of course I had to add a sentiment, hence the fun sentiment embellishments.  As part of my embellishment, I've made a bow on the back side of the button using Black Jute Twine from The Ribbon Carousel. Loving that stuff!!!

MFTWSC45 Presents anyone?

My mojo is back!! Thank goodness, it made a comeback.  I'm a TOC (Teacher on Call) so my schedule can often be all over the place and I haven't worked much this week so I had the opportunity to get a little crafty.  You'll be seeing cards from me over the next few days, yeah!!!  I've always loved my MFT stamps (if you can believe it, I'm currently waiting on two separate orders...) and try to play in their weekly sketches at SCS when I can.  And the bonus is that I can get going on my Christmas cards.  I've used the cutie pie Pure Innocence image called "Presents for you"  that I have watercolored with my Tombow Markers.  For the "scalloped" layers in the sketch, I decided to use my MS Icicle punch that I ran through my Xyron (oh how I love my Xyron) and then added some MS Chunky glitter to it to make it look like snow.  The DP I've used comes from Jillibean Soup, Echo Park, and I can't remember the other company (it was a scrap).  Now I know what you're thinking... why do I have that snowflake?  Yup, it's to cover up a boo-boo that made for a great embellishment opportunity.  LOL!!!

Here's to You

Isn't she just so fine?  I'm loving that glass of champagne, I tell ya!!! I had a bit of free time on Friday so I decided to play a little.  I haven't had much time to play any of the challenges at SCS, so I decided to take a peek at what was going on.  I've always loved the a la Mode line from MFT but haven't had the opportunity to ink any up in quite some time. As soon as I saw this week's MFT sketch, I knew it lent itself to using an a la Mode and I chose to use "Cheers".  It's also been quite some time since I've been able to enter the MFT Guest Designer Contest and this month it's all about the BLING!!! And you know how much I love my bling!!! So of course I decided to combine the two.   I've watercolored parts of the image with my Tombow Markers and then paper pieced the rest using DP from My Mind's Eye Blush line.  I'm loving the simplicity of the card yet it still is striking (well I think so anyway...). LOL.  Hope you like it!!!

RCC7 Music to your Ears

Hey there everyone!! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are enjoying the sunshine out there... We finally have a stretch of nice weather so I've been trying to get outside more and we have family visiting from England so my blog may be a bit quieter than normal because I'm not really around much right now. 

When I first saw this week's Ribbon Carousel challenge "Music to my ears"   I was a little bit freaked... This week, Linda wants us to let the jammin’ tunes of an IPOD, CD or radio inspire your creations this week. You could use vintage sheet music, music stamps or die cuts, or even the lyrics of your favourite tune. 

 I'm not a big music person, I normally just listen to whatever is on the radio (I can't even remember the last time I bought any music...).  So when I started to go through my stamps, I really had to think about what stamps I had that would fit this week's theme.  As soon as I saw the PI girl "Lollipop Girl", she had me singing "Lollipop, Lollipop" and I knew I had to use her ( sorry if that song gets stuck in your head :-)  LOL...  I've watercolored the image with my Tombow Markers and pulled the colors from the Pink Paislee DP. The layout comes from this week's MFT Sketch Challenge which I'm so happy I had the chance to play along with.  Love it!!!

We'd love for you to participate with us this week but just remember that your creation must include ribbon, twine, etc (basically anything that comes on a spool).

MFTGUESTDT0411 Oh baby!!!

Oh baby.... I'm channelling my inner Amy Sheffer aka Pickletree for this shabby chic card.  Amy has been a long time inspiration of mine so when I saw this month's guest designer challenge at My Favorite Things, I knew if I could channel Amy, then I could do shabby chic.  It's not my normal style but wow..... I loved it!!! I must admit, I slaved over this card for one too many hours though....  My inspiration for my card came from the new Basic Grey DP "Hello Luscious" and the My Mind's Eye Stella Rose (I took three of the four papers from the various lines in Stella Rose).  I've had the a la Mode "Oh Baby" since shortly after came out but with my schedule this is the first opportunity I've had to use it.  I think it's a fabulous  go to stamp for a baby shower or for a person newly pregnant.  I watercolored the image with my Tombow Markers and then added a bit of white gel pin for highlighting.  Each layer of DP and cardstock was distressed and then I sponged the edges with Crumb Cake and Close to Cocoa inks.  I had the most fun with all of the embellishments: some crinkly ribbon, rhinestone swirls, button, linen thread, pebbles and crocheted lace... Love it!!!

Another source of inspiration for me is the amazing Jeanie Whitmer aka "the spotted chick" who also loves Kraft cardstock so I'm also entering this into her "That's Krafty Thursday" challenge.  Thanks Jeanie!!!

MFTWSC7 It must be love

Wow - it's been a busy week although I feel like I haven't gotten enough accomplished. But I always try to make time for my card therapy.  Let's just say I needed to make a card, my mind was needing it!  I noticed last night that this week's sketch challenge for MFT is now up so I had to play.  I realized one thing though when making this card... I need more sentiment sets from MFT (the only sentiments I have are ones that come in other sets but nothing that is specifically sentiments).  The sentiment I've used is from one of the a la mode sets called "It must be Love".  Believe it or not... I've had the Rolled Rose die since it came out months ago but this is the first time I'm using it on a card, sad isn't it?  One of the reasons I haven't used the die is that it is so hard to find great felt in Canada (most places only have the cheap stuff that frays) so when I went to Washington state a couple of weeks ago for a girls stamping weekend, I picked up a whole bunch of it.  Wahoo!!! I'm a happy camper I tell ya!!  The DP comes from the Basic Grey Hopscotch Line.  Loving how it all came together... Now I just have to wait to give it to someone. 

MFTWSC5 Here's the Story

Hey there everyone... if our stamping weekend away could talk.... it would have a lot of stories for you!! But what happens in Port Orchard is staying in Port Orchard. LOL!!! I'm having a fabulous weekend away with a wonderful group of girls.  We're at Corinna's house and she's been such a fabulous hostess - we arrived to a wonderful "welcome" display (I'll be adding pics of that to my blog sometime this week), and she's been amazing with all of us.  We're a crazy group I tell ya!!!! Who's here you ask?  Jessica Knutsen, Danielle Lounds, Kim Teasdale, Sparkle Smith and Corinna McGregor as well as myself. 

OMGoodness... we did a little bit of shopping on Friday (you should see my stash of goodies I bought)....  Corinna managed to score some fabulous DP when the rest of us had gone outside so we're forcing her to take us back to the scrapbook store (I thought about stealing her DP because I like it so much) but I just couldn't do that to our wonderful hostess. Wahoo - we went back to the LSS and I'm all happy with the rest of my new purchases. 

Oh... you came for my card right?  Let me get right to that.  I've watercolored the a la mode "What's the story?" with my Tombow markers.  My inspiration came from the "School Spirit" Crate Paper DP.  I've always thought that these go so well together so I had to go with it.  I've made so many cards over this weekend so you'll be seeing cards for quite some time.  Yeah me! I had so much fun creating a card for this week's MFT sketch challenge that I had to take it for another test drive. However, the sentiment just wasn't working on the right hand side so I moved it to the left. Such a rebel I know. 

Well I'm off to have a bit more fun with the girls but I'll be back soon with more fun stuff for you. 

MFTWSC5 Funky Flowers

What a fabulous sketch this week for My Favorite Things!! I just had to play along which has a feat unto itself.  If you can believe it I even unpacked a bunch of my craft supplies that I already had packed for a girls crafting getaway just so I could make this card.... Crazy I know!!!. I've used an old set from MFT called Funky Flowers which has been watercolored with my Tombow Markers. The "Stem" was stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia and then clear embossed. I've sponged around the main panel with Versamagic Wheat Ink. Each DP has been dry embossed with a variety of cuttlebug folders. 

I'm off to finish packing!  I'll be posting while I'm enjoying my crafting weekend with some crazy Trendsetters!! LOL :-)

MFTGUESTDT0211 Key to my Heart

Isn't she such a cutie? I've made this card for this month's Guest Designer Challenge for My Favorite Things which is to create a card using a "Recipe for Love".  The recipe for love was to use 1 DP, 2 cardstock colors (not including neutral base), and three embellishments.   For my card, I've used the a la mode set called "Key to My heart" that I have watercolored with my Tombow markers. For a bit of dimension on the card, I used one of my cuttlebug folders on the Soft Sky panel. I love how the sentiment works so well with the charms that I've used (I've had them for awhile and I guess they were waiting for just the right card). I decided to go for a totally non-traditional color scheme for this Valentine's card and I love how it turned out (believe it or not, the DP is from an old Bo Bunny Christmas paper).

MFTWSC3 A little bit of Flopsey love

Isn't this little Flopsey just way too cute??  He's looking ready for Valentine's Day!! I must admit I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day but I love making cards for it.  Strange eh?? I just got Valentine Flopsey in the mail this week so I decided I had to ink him up and give him some love for this week's MFT Sketch Challenge.  I'm already an MFT addict (and yes... I'll admit it) and now that they have a weekly sketch I think I'll become an addict of those too.  I've watercolored Flopsey with my Tombow Markers and then highlighted around the edge with one of my pink Tombows.  DP is from the Echo Park valentine's Line - Be Mine.  Love it!!!! Great color combos I tell ya - but then again I'm a sucker for anything with white, black and pinks.  Overall a pretty simple card for some lucky person on the Day of love... I also made this card for this week's Sugar Creek Hollow challenge which is to make a card with mainly black and white with a splash of colour.  I think I achieved that - wahoo!!1

MFTWSC#2 Let's Celebrate!!

Can I just say I was inspired with this card??? Love it!!! I think it may be one of my fave cards in quite some time.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks here so there has been very little crafting going on.  I had a chance to go to my LSS over the weekend and pick up some new DP.  This forced me to find my mojo.... and I was inspired by this amazing DP from Bella Boulevard and Pebbles.  For my card today, I've followed the sketch for this week's MFT Challenge at SCS (which I'm getting done just under the wire - thank goodness).  I absolutely love that MFT has gone to a weekly sketch as a sketch always inspires me.  Crazy I know but I love em!!1  For my card, I've used the a la Mode "Cheers" (unfortunately it's out of stock right now so I can't link it).  The image has been watercolored with my Tombow Markers and I paper pieced the dress with one of the DP's.  I've clear embossed part of the champagne flute to give it a bit of shine.

MFTGUESTDT0111 My heart is yours

Hey there everyone!!! I hope you're having a wonderful day!! I've had a busy weekend but I knew I had to make some time for this month's MFT Guest Designer Challenge which is to use a banner on your card.  I've had the banner die since shortly after it came out but I hadn't used it yet.  I knew once I saw the challenge that I wanted to do something a bit different so I decided to make the banners into a border.  It took me awhile to get all the banners made and sponged but once that was done, the card came together relatively quickly. I bought this K& Company DP last week while I was out with a friend and knew it would be perfect for this cutie pie PI (Love You with All My Heart - currently out of stock).  Isn't she just too cute for words?  I've watercolored her with my Tombow Markers and then I sponged the edges of the circle Nestie with Wheat Versamagic Ink. I also used the Hearts a Plenty die-namic for a bit more dimension.

Martini Time!!

WOW!!! I can't believe it's now 2011!!! So much happened in 2010 - both good and bad so it's nice to have it behind us.  I feel like my stamping has grown leaps and bounds in 2010 and I can't wait for new adventures and opportunities.  In 2010, I had the honor to serve on a few design teams - Skipping Stones Design as well as Clear Dollar Stamps in which my terms have ended for both. I was Mercy's Guest Muse in August and this was such an honor as well. In September, I became a Junior Trendsetter at There She Goes and then Mid November I was invited to be part of Lori Boyd's By Lori Designs DT.  I'm truly blessed to be part of such an amazing stamping community. I have made so many amazing friends over the last year and for that I am truly grateful!!!  You know who you are and I love you all!!!

In honour of a new year starting, I decided to make a card using Mercy's last sketch challenge. I'm so sad that I won't have Mercy's inspirations on Tuesdays anymore but I understand the time to move on. 

Now who wouldn't love a little Martini time to bring in the New Year right?  LOL.  I've used the MFT Flapper Doodle set called "Cheers to a New Year" as part of this week's MFT challenge at SCS which is to create a card with a party theme. I\ve watercolored the image with my Tombow Markers and kept the card relatively simple.  I also made this card for this week's challenge of "Celebrating" over at Crazy4Challenges. Who doesn't love the idea of celebrating the new year?  Celebrating friends with drinks?  Martinis anyone???

MFT's Ready for the Tree...Stitching it up

WOW!!! This card was a labor of love...and can I just say I love it?  The idea behind this card has been brewing for a few days, ever since I saw the December Guest Designer Challenge for MFT on SCS which is to use stitching on a card. I knew exactly what Pure Innocence image  I wanted to use, "Sending you a Little Christmas"  (It's out of stock right now but I'll link it as soon as I see it's available again).  I had the idea of creating a scene in my head but it took some time to created the final product. Like I said... it's a labor of love.  I decided I wanted to make a few trees (two with DP and the third with felt).  The felt tree has been hand stitched with Linen Thread as had the tree trunk.  The DP trees were sponged with Always Artichoke and then machine stitched.  I had some help from my mom to do the stitching on the trees... I'm not the best at sewing so I knew if I wanted it to look good, I needed the help on this part.  The snow was sponged with Brocade Blue and then machine stitched as well with a zig zag stitch. The PI has been watercolored with my Tombow Markers and then I painstakingly cut around it with a craft knife so that I could pop it up.  Another labor of love on that one I tell ya!!  I added some Diamond Stickles to the stars, hat trim,  boots trim, as well as Fruit Punch Stickles on the little tree in the sleigh. I then added some Rhinestones, Dew Drops and Buttons as "decorations" on the Christmas Tree. 

I love the whimsical, folky type look that this card has.  I can tell you one thing... I need to brush up on my sewing skills....  Be on the lookout for some sewing on my cards in the future.

MTSC101 Friendship warms the heart

How much do I love snow... I love it!!!  Over at SCS, the MFT challenge this week is about what you are thankful for.  I am lucky to be thankful for so many things in life but mostly I am thankful for my great family and friends.  So I made this card in honor of that - friendship.  I've used the MFT set called "Merry Kissmas" - one of my faves.  I know I mentioned yesterday about my coloring meltdown the other night so when I sat down on Wednesday night I decided I need to pull out my neglected Tombow Markers and took them for a ride.  I forgot how much I like them so I think I'll go back and forth between the Watercolor pencils and my beloved Tombows.  I have to be honest in saying that this card is one of the most fun I've had making a card recently.  I love the sketch - Thanks Mercy!!! Your sketches always rock!!! So you've guessed it... My card is for Mercy's Sketch Challenge this week.   As I was making this card, I kept thinking about the lighter DP panel and wondered what it reminded me of... and then I realized... "It's Snowing Gingerbreads" which is this week's Tuesday Trigger at the Moxie Fab World blog.

See... it's snowing gingerbreads... now if only that were true.  (it would make my Christmas baking so much easier). 

MFTWSC11102010 Cooking up some Love

Put on your sunglasses ladies... I didn't realize how bright the yellow was around the image until just now.. Sorry about that!  Okay... now that your eyes have adjusted I'll tell you a little about my card. I've made the card for the MFT Challenge this week at SCS which is to make a card featuring cooking in some way.   I know I have a lot of loves but I am totally in love with the a la mode line from My Favorite Things.  (Apparently I really do because I accidentally ordered two of one stamp last month when I placed an order - OOPS).  This a la Mode is called "What's Cooking" and she's so cute. (It's currently out of stock so I can't link it)  Now if only I looked that good while cooking... In my dreams I know you're probably telling me. 

The image has been watercolored with my Watercolor pencils and I was experimenting by trying to highlight around the image but looking at it - yellow wasn't a good choice.  Another OOPS! The DP is from October Afternoon's Fly a Kite and the brown DP is from Crate Paper.  Did you check out that whisk?  Isn't it purdy? 

Well ladies, my parents are back in town after a two month adventure in Australia and New Zealand so I'm off for a girls day out with my mom.  (Of course, it's all going to start with a trip to Starbucks!!!)

MFT Supply and Demand

Hey there - It's Guest Designer Challenge time over at My Favorite Things so I decided I'd throw my name into the mix so you know what that means... I had to make a card... Twist my arm right? Just Kidding!! I was totally in a crafty mood on Sunday (I was delaying carving the pumpkins) so I pulled out the PI Image,  Apple for You.  This month's GD Challenge is to bring out the office supplies.  So I decided that I wanted to use Cork with the Jumbo Scallop Die (who doesn't have a bulletin board in their office right?) and the Notebook Edge Die from MFT as well.  I'm kinda wishing I had some ledger paper but no such luck.  The DP is from October Afternoon, Echo Park and Cosmo Cricket (thank goodness for DP).  I've watercolored the PI with Watercolor pencils (have I mentioned how much I am loving them right now???  LOVE THEM!!!

Let it Snow

Who doesn't love getting dressed up and going out to play in the snow?  I'm not wishing for it to snow so soon but I wanted to play in this week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club challenge at SCS. I don't have a lot of MFT stamps yet (although I'm just a little slightly addicted to them right now) so when I saw the challenge to "dress up" I had to use the PI Image called "Flurry of Love" (it is out of stock right now so I can't link it).

I've watercolored the image with my Tombow Markers in shades of blue and purple.  I'm normally not a purple person (hehe... I keep thinking about purple people eaters... I know... I'm a goof!!!) but I absolutely love the Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather DP so I went with it.  The layout is from Karen Giron's SSSC87 challenge.

With this card, I keep thinking "Let it snow... no.. make it stop!!"
