FMS10 Hope and Comfort

It's been one of those weeks where sympathy cards are needed.  I didn't even have a chance to put the stamps away from the last sympathy card before I needed another one.  I wanted to keep it relatively simple, so I've used this week's layout from Freshly Made Sketches (that I've turned on its side). The sentiment is from the Impression Obsession set called Sympathy sentiments (stamped in Chocolate Chip Ink) and the leaves are from the new TSG set called Autumn (stamped in Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Ink).  This card was relatively quick and easy to make.  I'm sure I'll be making this a go to sketch.

Thanks for popping by today.

SC358 Death leaves a heartache

Making sympathy cards are one of those things I always find hard to do.  It makes you think about your own life and those precious to you.  I've definitely hugged my loved ones a little closer this week.  My parents will be attending a service later on this week for  a  family friend who died from cancer last week.

For my card, I've used this week's Sketch challenge at SCS that I've changed to a square card. Although sympathy cards are hard to make, I've always loved the sentiments from the Impression Obsession set called "Sympathy Sentiments".  I've stamped the sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  In the background of the sentiment panel, I've stamped one of the flowers from the TSG set called "Bloom" in Pink Pirouette ink. The color scheme for my card uses Crate Paper "Random" DP that matches perfectly to this week's Color Throwdown Challenge. I haven't purchased any of the new In Colors from SU so I had to improvise a little bit for two of the colors. I've also used some of the Twinery Baker's Twine in Charcoal that is from the Ribbon Carousel

Thanks for popping in today.

SFYTT Smell The Coffee

Happy Sunday everyone!!! I'm having a quiet one at home in my craft cave make some cards just for fun today.  I love it!!!  Jen del Muro has an amazing sketch this week (see below) so I wanted to play.  As you know, I love making square caerds so this sketch was right up my alley.  I've used the set called Smell the Coffee from Impression Obsession.  It is one of my favorite sets that I own but it rarely sees ink.  I've stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then watercolored the image using my Tombow Markers.  Nothing fancy for this card here - just some ribbon, buttons and that too cute bow.  The DP is My Mind's Eye and I've been hoarding it a little bit as it was hard to find.

Have a great day and enjoy your coffee!!! After making this card, it makes me want to make a quick trip to Starbucks to get a nice cold Frappucino.  YUMMO!!!

Openings in Heaven

I've long been an admirer of Shannan Teubner aka Steubner on SCS. I was devastated when I saw that she lost her husband a few days ago unexpectedly. I can't imagine what she is going through right now so I decided to make a card just for her. I find sympathy cards so hard to make so I wanted to try to keep the colors more springy. I absolutely love this quote and when I read it I automatically thought of Shannan. She's such an inspiration and I hope I can make her day just a little better.

Stamps: Bitty Botanicals (Clear Dollar Stamps), Sympathy set from Impression Obsession
Paper: Gina K White, Melon Mambo, MME DP, Bo Bunny DP, Basic Grey DP

Death leaves a heartache

As I mentioned yesterday, I had to make a few sympathy cards for the children of a close family friend. This card was made for Marion's son, Sean who I know was very close to his mom. He's a very earthy guy so I knew this would be perfect for him. I've combined Lovely as a Tree with a sentiment set from Impression Obsession called Sympathy Sentiments. I hope this brings Sean a bit of comfort in such a difficult time.

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree (SU), Sympathy Sentiments from Impression Obsession
Paper: Gina K Luxury White, Chocolate Chip, 3 Bugs in a Rug DP
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Versamark, Basic Black
Accessories: Ribbon, Buttons, Linen Thread, Nestabilities

WCMD09A - Stars in Heaven

A close family friend passed away this last week and I've been asked to make some sympathy cards for the family. I've been putting it off for a couple days because they aren't something I enjoy making. This death has hit close to home as Marion is very close in age to my mom who I am incredibly close to. I can't imagine being the age I am and having to deal with the death of a parent. I've made this card for Monica who was incredibly close to her mom - I knew when I saw this sentiment that it would be perfect for her and that it would bring her some comfort.

I've made the card for WCMD09A at Splitcoaststampers - this challenge was to make a card wit either a quote or a sentiment as the focal point of the card. I've used the Indian Summer Line from Basic Grey. I love the softness of this paper - it's gorgeous. I already know I'll be buying more of it!

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Sympathy Sentiments by Impression Obsession, Serenity by Verve
Paper: Gina K Luxury White, Rose Red, Indian Summer by Basic Grey
Ink: Versamark, Rose Red, Pink Pirouette
Accessories: Circle and Blossom Nestabilities, Floral Embossing Folder, Ribbon, Rhinestones, Clear Detail Embossing Powder

MTSC36 Smell the Coffee

Ahhhh.... caffeine! The breakfast of champions! Hehe.... This has been a whirlwind of a month and I've needed caffeine to keep me going I swear. My husband was home for awhile and left again on the 10th of August. Silly me.... thinking that 13 days was enough to get all my DT projects done as well as working full time. Needless to say I've been an incredibly busy girl this month who has been fueled by my fave drinks: Grande Peppermint Mocha Lite Frappucino from Starbucks and my handy dandy faithful Diet Pepsi! My DT projects for the month are done (I can't wait to show you later on this week) and tonight I just wanted to play!

I've been a fan of Mercy's sketch challenges for quite some time and was happy when she started them up again on her blog, Lord Have Mercy. I haven't had the chance to play so tonight when I saw that the sketch was already posted, I went to my stamp cave and started creating. Of course, I had to go with the coffee theme tonight. I love this Impression Obsession stamp set, Smell the Coffee so I inked it up using Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear detail embossing powder. I then colored the coffee cups with my ever faithful Tombow markers. I love this Cosmo Cricket paper and it was the inspiration for the colors of my card. Hope you like it!

Paper: Gina K Luxury White, Blue Bayou, Baja Breeze, Cosmo Cricket DP, Watercolor Paper
