CDS Sneak Peek - DEC Poinsettia

I've always loved poinsettias as they remind me of Christmas and when I was young my mom would have them all over the house. The red has always been my favorite but pink is my close second. December's Flower of the Month is the Poinsettia and is available September 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. My red poinsettia card uses Gold and Gold Tinsel Embossing powder to create the shine for the petals and leaves and I've then colored it using my Tombow markers. I love how rich and vibrant the poinsettia looks along with the bold colors from my Basic Grey DP.

Isn't this pink poinsettia just so pretty? I'm thinking this year, that's what I'll be buying for my house. Each month, the DT is given a sketch challenge and this is it for this month. Isn't it great? I've managed to make the poinsettia vibrant using my Tombow markers. Have I ever told you how much I love my Tombows? I'm not sure what I'd do without them!

Hehehe... I love the name of this months' Stamp of the Month available free with a purchase of $50 or more from Clear Dollar Stamps. For my first card, I wanted Clean and Simple and once again I've used one of Mercy's Tuesday Sketches and changed it a little bit. With Fall coming up and pumpkins growing, I thought this was too much fun.

Do you like Vintage cars??? If so, Clear Dollar Stamps has come up with a great car related sentiment set called Cool Ride and a number of different cars. These are available September 1st. My first sample uses the 56 Pickup as well as Cool Ride. If you've noticed, I've started creating some samples other than cards to see how versatile the CDS stamps really are. I thought that the journal could be a cute gift for a car lover in your family or maybe that mechanic who has worked on your car.

As you know, I'm often inspired my DP and my first card is no exception. I love this My Mind's Eye DP and have been hoarding it. I just can't get enough of it. See something cool in the background???? It's one of the new Cuttlebug folders called Victoria. I think it may become my go-to embossing folder. I love how vibrant this card turned out. It screams little girl to me and who didn't love Little Miss Muffet as a child.

CDS Sneak Peek - Charlie Harvest

Charlie loves his seasons - you saw him in the summer with his floaties and beach chair and he's back for Fall in the set, Charlie Harvest available September 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. I have always been a big fan of Charlie and this set is no exception. I love the Fall theme to it with the pumpkins and the gourds. Each month, the DT is given a challenge to create a sample using no DP so this month, I used the wheat stamp from the set as well as my Pumpkin Harvest embossing folder to create my DP for this card. I'm loving this ribbon treatment too! Hope you all like the card as much as Charlie and I do.

For my second card, another DT challenge was to distress our card so for this one I've distressed the edges, sponged the edges of each layer of paper as well as sponged the white space around the image. I'm thinking I need to perfect sponging around images. Hint Hint Kim!!! Hehehehe.

CDS Sneak Peek - The Grind

YUMMO!!!! Loving "The Grind" a new release from Clear Dollar Stamps available September 1st. I've always been a fan of Mercy Kerin and my first card uses a sketch from last week. As soon as I saw the sketch, I was inspired!!! As you know, I tend to watercolor all my images - well on this one I tried an old favorite of mine - paper piecing. I love having re-useable mugs that have a bit of style to them and of course this one is no exception. Each month, the DT are issued a color challenge and for this month, it was to use Brown and Green on a card. Think I've accomplished it on this card.

ALL CDSTAMPS STAMP SETS USED: The Grind
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS: Certainly Celery, Gina K Luxury White, Chocolate Chip, Man About Town Upsy Daisy DP
INK: Versafine Onyx Black
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Labels 4 Nestabilities, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Buttons, Linen Thread, MS Punch, Stamping Dimensionals
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES: Paper Piecing

Isn't this gift card holder just too cute??? My brother loved it as soon as he saw it and tried stealing it!!! He's trying to convince me to reproduce a bunch for co-workers and friends. I haven't given in yet (shhhhh.... don't tell him how easy these are to make). I adapted the design from a tutorial that craftycaro had on her blog, Carolina's Creative Pad. It is in the shape of a present but I thought how perfect- it looks like a coffee mug! To make the handle, I used two circle nestabilities and placed then on my paper in such a way that it would create what resembles the handle. I've used Basic Grey magnets to keep the gift card holder closed. Hope you like it!!! I'll keep you posted to let you know if my brother has convinced me to make more.

CDS Sneak Peek - Romans 8:vs. 38-39

WOW!!! Are you loving this month's releases as much as I am? Romans 8:vs. 38-39 is a new scripture available from CDS on September 1st. I think this bible verse really needed to stand on its' own so I tried to keep the cards somewhat simple. Both cards use Cosmo Cricket DP from the Early Bird Collection. The first card has been created using reds and blues.

ALL CDSTAMPS STAMP SETS USED: Romans 8:38-39
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS: Very Vanilla, Real Red, Blue Bayou, Cosmo Cricket DP
INK: Blue Bayou
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Rhinestones, MS Lattice Punch, Ribbon

My second card is one of my favorites that I made for the September 1st release. I love the colors and the use of the Blossom Nestabilities in the corner on the edge of the bible verse. I've also used my Little Leaves Sizzlet Die. Hope you like it!

CDS Sneak Peek - Hockey time

Kim Teasdale has created a great set called Hockey Time available September 1st at Clear Dollar Stamps. I'm a huge hockey fan so when I saw this set I just had to have it!!! Ask Kim - she doesn't like the fact I love hockey so much because I always side with her husband when he wants to watch the Vancouver Canucks play. I know... I'm bad!

For my first sample, I found this fantastic scrapbook paper in a Scrapbooking store on the mainland which inspired me to make a Scrapbook page. Me???? A scrapbook page - yikes???? Being a card maker, you'd think scrapbook pages wouldn't intimidate me but they do! Why? I don't know but after making this one I might have to venture out and make more pages. I kept the page monochromatic so that the focus would ultimately be placed on the picture that will go on at some point. One of my favorite parts of this set are the sentiments. They are truly inspirational and can be used for anything - not just sports related. The Wayne Gretzky quote is by far my favorite as it rings so true. It's something we should all live by.

ALL CDSTAMPS STAMP SETS USED: Hockey Time
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS: Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Bo Bunny DP, Hockey DP (unknown)INK: Versafine Onyx Black
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Labels 4 Nestabilities, Buttons, ribbon, Linen Thread
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES: Scrapbooking page

Like I said earlier in my post, I love hockey!!! Can I play? Absolutely not but when the Hockey season starts, I'm in front of the TV watching the Vancouver Canucks play. So on that note, thinking that girls love hockey too I wanted to make a girly card. I've used my much loved and hoarded Damask flocked DP along with Melon Mambo cardstock. I've embossed the goalie using Versamark and Basic Black ink combined with Clear detail embossing powder. I tried to go with a more clean and simple look to this card to highlight the images and the quote.

CDS Sneak Peek - I a-door you

Let the sneak peeks begin!!!! This is a fantastic set called "I a-door you" available September 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. It is such a versatile set which is why I wanted to create two totally different samples. The first samples uses the watering can filled with flowers. Isn't it just too cute? It was really quick to color using my Tombow markers. This card uses a recent CPS sketch that I fell in love with. Kim Teasdale has already claimed this card as her birthday card!!!

ALL CDSTAMPS STAMP SETS USED: I a-door you
CARDSTOCK AND PAPERS: Gina K Luxury White, Rose Red, Lemonade - Basic Grey DP, Watercolor paper

My second sample uses the largest image from the set - namely the door. As you can see, the window on the door is open so you can put any of the smaller images from this set into this opening. What a fabulous idea!!! Another thing I love about this door is the space that the sentiments can fit in as well. Too cool!!! Doesn't the pie remind you of Fall? Each month, the DT is given challenges and one of the challenges this month was to use blue and orange. I may have pushed it a bit with the other colors in the DP but I love how this card feels like Fall.

MTSC36 Smell the Coffee

Ahhhh.... caffeine! The breakfast of champions! Hehe.... This has been a whirlwind of a month and I've needed caffeine to keep me going I swear. My husband was home for awhile and left again on the 10th of August. Silly me.... thinking that 13 days was enough to get all my DT projects done as well as working full time. Needless to say I've been an incredibly busy girl this month who has been fueled by my fave drinks: Grande Peppermint Mocha Lite Frappucino from Starbucks and my handy dandy faithful Diet Pepsi! My DT projects for the month are done (I can't wait to show you later on this week) and tonight I just wanted to play!

I've been a fan of Mercy's sketch challenges for quite some time and was happy when she started them up again on her blog, Lord Have Mercy. I haven't had the chance to play so tonight when I saw that the sketch was already posted, I went to my stamp cave and started creating. Of course, I had to go with the coffee theme tonight. I love this Impression Obsession stamp set, Smell the Coffee so I inked it up using Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear detail embossing powder. I then colored the coffee cups with my ever faithful Tombow markers. I love this Cosmo Cricket paper and it was the inspiration for the colors of my card. Hope you like it!

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Smell the Coffee (Impression Obsession)
Paper: Gina K Luxury White, Blue Bayou, Baja Breeze, Cosmo Cricket DP, Watercolor Paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Tombow Markers, aquapainter, ribbon, linen thread, buttons, MS punch, clear detail embossing powder
