CDS SOM - Blown Over

Blown Over is August's Stamp of the Month at Clear Dollar Stamps - yours free with a purchase of $50 or more. I've been on a Clean and Simple kick lately and I'm so glad I chose to keep it simple with this card. I think it highlights the stamp set to perfection. This is definitely a new go-to layout for me. Thank you Shannan!!! I've stamped the image directly onto watercolor paper as I wanted to be able to use my Tombows without having to worry. The sentiment panel along with the scalloped panel have been popped up using Stamping Dimensionals and then large flowery shaped brads have been added as well.

My second card was inspired by my DP. It's summery, fun, bright - everything that I love about summer. I've been trying to make clouds lately to create a background. It's still a work in progress. If you can believe it - I bought a cloud template and had it in my purse for days without ever taking it out. As soon as I took it out of my purse I lost it. Oops!!!! Hope you like my card.

CDS Sneak Peek - Apples and books

Charliene is back this month and ready for school! Now what school year could start without Apples and Books? The apples and book stamp is sold as a single stamp and makes a perfect stamp if you're wanting to create something for any student or teacher in your life. I bought the October Afternoon DP at a LSS and it was definitely my starting point for colors. I wanted Charliene to stand out so I kept the layout releatively simple. I've popped up the apples and books using Stamping Dimensionals. The apple has Fruit Punch stickles for a bit of extra bling.

CDS Sneak Peek - Playful Pixies

Can I just say this set is just too much fun? I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. Playful Pixies is available August 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. For my first card, I was inspired by a card I had made months ago that had a similar feel to it. I love my Labels 4 Nestabilities - they add a bit of whimsy yet elegance. I've colored this image using Tombow markers and then added Diamond Stickles on the wings as well as on the pixie dust.

ALL CDSTAMPS USED: Playful Pixies
CS AND PAPERS: Gina K Luxury White, Kiwi Kiss, Melon Mambo, Cosmo Cricket DP, Watercolor paper
INK: Versafine Onyx Black
MARKERS: Tombow Markers
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Tombow Markers, Aquapainter, Diamond Stickles, Blossom Nestabilities, Rhinestone Brads, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Labels 4 Nestabilities COLORING MEDIUM: Markers SPECIAL TECHNIQUES: Watercoloring

This card was so much fun to make!!!! I've had the Blossom Nestabilities for months but kept forgetting that I had them. One of the design team challenges required us to use a cut out our stamped image as an accent on a card. I used my nestabilities to create a flower. Between each layer, I added Stamping Dimensionals to pop everything up and try to make the flower look more realistic. I then stamped one of the pixies using Versafine Onyx Black and colored her with my Tombow markers. I then cut her out and popped her up using stamping dimensionals again. This card turned out too cute.

ALL CDSTAMPS USED: Playful Pixies

CS AND PAPERS: Gina K Luxury White, Cosmo Cricket, Bazzill Swiss Dots, Fancy Pants Designs DP, Watercolor paper

INK: Versafine Onyx Black

MARKERS: Tombow Markers

ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Blossom Nestabilities, Stamping Dimensionals, Buttons, Embroidery Thread, Tombow Markers, Aquapainter, Diamond Stickles, Clear Detail Embossing Powder COLORING MEDIUM: Markers and Aquapainter SPECIAL TECHNIQUES: Watercoloring

CDS Sneak Peek - Sails, Subs and Tugs

Kim Teasdale has it it out of the park or should I say water with this set called Sails, Subs and Tugs available August 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. It is a great boy set but also great for any man in your life who enjoys being on the water. For my first card, I used the tug boat image. Now I know tugs should be white with black but I wanted to make it fun and of course I wanted it to match the DP I had chosen to use. I've stamped the tug on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I then colored the image using my Tombow markers. Isn't it cute? Gotta love the Liquid applique I used for the puffs of smoke.

ALL CDSTAMPS USED: Sails, Subs and Tugs
CS AND PAPERS: Gina K Luxury White, Dusty Durango, Marakech (Basic Grey), Watercolor paper
INK: Versafine Onyx Black
MARKERS: Tombows
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Tombow Markers, Aquapainter, Classic Oval and Scalloped Oval Nestabilities, Cuttlebug Die, Liquid Applique, Ribbon, Linen Thread, Crystal Effects
COLORING MEDIUM: Tombow Markers and Aquapainter
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES: Watercoloring
When I made the second card, all I could think of was the song about a yellow submarine. Darn - the song is still stuck in my head. I found the layout on the Sketch Saturday blog and went to it. I know the colors I chose aren't typical "water" but I wanted something vibrant. Hope you like it.

ALL CDSTAMPS USED: Sails, Subs and Tugs
CS AND PAPERS: Gina K Luxury White, Junebug (Basic Grey), Real Red, Flocked DP from Little Yellow Bicycle, Watercolor paper
INK: Versafine Onyx Black, Not Quite Navy

CDS Sneak Peek - Bitty Bots

Kim Teasdale has come up with another great set this month, Bitty Bots available August 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. My first card definitely was inspired by this Cosmo Cricket DP. It matches perfectly with this stamp set and highlights it to a tee. I've colored one of the robots with my Tombow Markers. I love these markers - I've said that before but it's the truth. They're awesome!!!!

ALL CDSTAMPS USED: Bitty Bots
CS AND PAPERS: PTI White, Blue Bayou, Dusty Durango, Cosmo Cricket “Cogsmo” DP, Watercolor Paper
INK: Versafine Onyx Black
MARKERS: Tombows – 025, 526, 845, 925, 942, N65
ACCESSORIES AND EMBELLISHMENTS: Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Swirly Clip, Ribbon, Dew Drops, Tombow Markers, Aquapainter, Nestabilities, Stamping Dimensionals
COLORING MEDIUM: Markers
SPECIAL TECHNIQUES: Watercoloring

My second card uses a different robot from the set and I've kept it simple because we had to make a card using no DP. Me? No DP!!! I'm a DP-aholic so it's hard to make a card without one. I've used my Versamark and Clear Embossing Powder to stamp the nuts and bolts onto the Grey Cardstock and then colored my robot using Tombow markers.

ALL CDSTAMPS USED: Bitty Bots
CS AND PAPERS: Gina K Luxury White, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Watercolor paper

He'll be available August 1st from Clear Dollar Stamps. A lot of great bits to this set including an I-pod, Cell phone and all of the "in" words. Each month, the DT is assigned challenges and my Charlie card uses both our sketch challenge as well as the color challenge (green and brown with a neutral). Isn't he cute?? I wanted Charliene to stand out so I kept the layout releatively simple. I've popped up the apples and books using Stamping Dimensionals. The apple has Fruit Punch stickles for a bit of extra bling.

CDS Sneak Peek - Hanging Out

It's that time again!!!! Clear Dollar Stamps is unveiling its' August 1st releases. Today is Day 1 of 4. I swear it is a feast for your eyes. I had so much fun creating samples this month. The first set is "Hanging Out". I love all the play on words that this set offers and the super cute images. For my first card, I used the underwear as my starting point. It was my wedding anniversary recently so I thought it would be fun to use this as a card for my husband. I've stamped the image on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossing powder and then watercolored the images using my Tombow Markers. As you can tell, my fave DP came out again! I've been hoarding this paper.

It's been a little hectic, it's been a little crazy....

Life has been a little hectic to say the least this month. The month started out with my place of employment relocating... Did I mention I ended up being in charge of this? So I helped with packing up the one store, painting the new store, bringing stock into the new store, setting new store up, merchandising, ordering signage for new store.... Need I say more? The list goes on.

My husband is also home and it has been way too long since I had seen him last. So apart from my DT commitments I have done no stamping (as you can tell from my lack of posting on my blog). Stamping is my outlet and I've found it hard not making anything extra but this time with my husband is really important. We celebrated our 3rd anniversary last week... Nothing too romantic as Kim and I went to Vancouver to pick my husband up from the airport and our "anniversary" dinner was BC Ferries food. If you're from BC, you know that the ferry food is less than great. We're really excited about our camping trip this weekend with the Teasdale family. It's pretty sad that Kim and I were trying to figure out how to go camping and be able to post during sneak peeks. Needless to say, I have to come back early for work so I'll be making sure everything is posted.

Sneak Peeks for Clear Dollar Stamps start soon!!! Yeah!!! So I'll have plenty to post then. So check back in a few days.

Best Friends

I've been a long time fan of Shannan Teubner's (ever since I started stamping) and check her blog out on a daily basis. If you only knew how many of her cards are in my favorites on SCS.... it's a lot!!!! She posted this card and I absolutely fell in love with it. My mom called me to ask me to make a wedding card and I was stumped! I have very few wedding related stamps (guess I need to invest in some) and had no clue as to what I was going to do. And then Shannan posted her card on her blog and SCS. A light bulb went on and I knew I had a very quick and elegant card in the making. Thanks Shannan!!! You rock!

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Serenity (Verve Stamps), Full of Life (SU)
Paper: Gina K Luxury White, Pink Pirouette, Doodlebug DP

Bellarific Friday - I admire your drive....

I've been enjoying just stamping this week. Like I've said lately, life has been pretty stressful and I just need to relax. So I've been playing a little bit as well as working on August's sneak peeks for CDS. Jen del Muro came up with this sketch for Bellarific Friday. Great layout, I tell ya! My Lovebeetle Huggabugg hadn't seen ink yet (and I've had it for a few months - yikes - the horrors) so I wanted to play with it. It was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black and then embossed before coloring with Tombow Markers. I then coated the car with Crystal Effects. Note to self: colors may change when adding crystal effects to something). The "pink" wheels of the car used to be a nice deep purple. I added the CE right before I went out to run errands. To my surprise when I got home... I found pink! C'est la vie (that's life).

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Lovebeetle Huggabugg, I admire your drive (sentiment) both from Stamping Bella
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Gina K Luxury White, My Mind's Eye DP, Watercolor paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Nestabilities, Buttons, Embroidery Thread, Crsytal Effects, Stickles (on wings), Tombow markers, Aquapainter

CDSWCC27 Grin and Barrel it

Alex is hosting the Clear Dollar Color Challenge (CDSWCC27) this week at Papercraft Planet. I rarely get to participate but I have a bit of free time this week so once I found out the colors I went to work. This week's colors are: Dark Brown, Rust or Dark Orange, Blue, Kraft and Vanilla as a neutral. For some reason, these colors scream country to me so I pulled out Lean on me Charlie. I think this card has a very western look to it. It was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black on watercolor paper and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then watercolored the images with Tombow markers. I've sponged all the edges as well as the embossed sections. Hope you like it.

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Lean on me Charlie
Paper: PTI White, Chocolate Chip, Dusty Durango, Soft Sky, Kraft and Very Vanilla
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Cuttlebug Embossing Folders, Nestabilities, Tombows, Aquapainter, Ribbon, Buttons, Linen Thread, Clear Detail Embossing Folder

SC236 Give me limes....

MMMM.... Give me limes for a margarita. Oh wait? It's not 5:00 yet but it has to be 5:00 somewhere right? Hehehe.... That's the type of week it's been. I made this card for SC236. It was a nice easy looking sketch and I wanted to have fun with it. We all know that after a few margaritas we're heading to the floor. I've stamped the A Muse Margarita with Versafine Onyx Black and then embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder before coloring with my Tombow markers. I then used Crystal Effects on the glass and Diamond Stickles on the rim to look like sugar.

Sparkle and Bling list:
Stamps: Margarita and When life give you limes (both by A Muse)
Paper: PTI White, Wild Wasabi, Doodlebug DP, Watercolor paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Tombow Markers, Aquapainter, Diamond Stickles, Crystal Effects, Clear Detail Embossing Powder, Ribbon, Long Rectangle Nestabilities

CC226 I want to shop

I didn't realize how busy my life has been until I noticed it's the 7th today and I hadn't posted yet in the month of July. Things have been pretty stressful here and my card making has taken a bit of a backseat lately but I know it gives me comfort and a bit of time to de-stress. I made this card for the color challenge at SCS which is Tempting Turquoise, Baja Breeze, Apricot Appeal and Creamy Caramel. I had all the colors except for the Apricot Appeal so I grabbed some DP (Basic Grey Marakech Line) to pull all the colors out. I really like how it turned out. I stamped Stella going shoppin' with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear detail embossing powder. I then colored Stella with my Tombow markers. I think I'm finally beginning to master them. Yeah!!!

Hope you like it!

Sparkle and Bling List:
Stamps: Stella going Shoppin' (Stamping Bella)
Paper: PTI White, Creamy Caramel, Tempting Turquoise, Baja Breeze, Watercolor paper
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Accessories: Tombow Markers, Aquapainter, Nestabilities, Crocheted Flower, Buttons, Linen Thread, Stamping Dimensionals
